Visit the Institute of Chemistry of USP!

USP (University of São Paulo) every year has monitored visits to it's institutes, so high school students can get to know them and be helped to decide which career they'd like to follow. The full 2009 schedule can be seen here (there's actually no need to sign in, though):
http://www.usp.br/prc/uniprof/visitas2009/

I, as a chemistry student, obviously am writing to invite you to visit my institute. The schedule is as follows: first, the director and some teachers will talk about the Chemistry Institute, then there is a monitored visit through research laboratories, followed by some cool chemical demonstrations by students and a play by Chemistry In Action, the theater group that I belong to. It will be fun!
So, to the ones interested, don't forget:

Saturday, August 22nd, 9 am
Insitute of Chemistry, USP
Av. Prof. Lineu Prestes, 748
São Paulo, SP - Brazil

Father's Day

Today is Father's Day in Brazil. I don't know if people celebrate this date in other countries, nor if it's the same date, if they do. Anyway, today Brazilians thank their fathers for always being there for their children.

Thanks, Dad!

The Stupid Swine Flu Paranoid

Great.
Because of this stupid paranoid people are having about this nez type of Flu, known as Swine Flu, my classes, which were suppoused to begin this Monday, will begin only in 17. August. It's so stupid! This desease is nothing but a flu! A stronger one, but a flu, nevertheless. Healthy, jung people don't die of flu! Besides, with all the chaos shown in papers and television, everybody is aware of the danger, so if someone gets sick, he or she just has to go to the hospital and soon they'll get better! There's no need to pospoun classes because of that. Teachers could just make sure everybody wears warm clothes and leaves the windows open, and no one would get sick.
Because of the longer vacations, the week off we always have in September will be canceled, and the holidays will begin in 17. December. Cool. ¬¬
