Como vão todos? Espero que bem =] Cá estou, de volta da praia \o/ Passei o Carnaval na Riviera de São Lourenço, na casa da minha tia. Foi muito legal! Fez bastante sol, e deu pra pegar uma corzinha = b Espero que sirva para amenizar a brancura doentia que me tomará após meses trancada no quarto, estudando... XD
Terminei de ler o segundo livro da série "His Dark Materials", de Philip Pullman, e comecei hoje o terceiro. Para quem quiser saber mais (isso aqui tá virando um blog de dicas de livros e filmes, mas pelo menos assim eu tenho o que contar huahuahua), aqui vão algumas informações. ; ]

Livro 1: A Bússula de Ouro (The Golden Compass)

Sinopse
Lyra Belacqua, a street-savvy and sassy little girl, takes the lead role. Raised and haphazardly educated by Oxford scholars, she has until now led a largely carefree and unconfined life. When her uncle, Lord Asriel, returns to Oxford from exploring in the North, he brings back word of strange events, mysterious Dust, and a photograph showing a city in the Aurora Borealis. His reports pique Lyra's insatiable curiosity and set in motion the wheels of her fate. Children begin to go missing, stolen by mysterious unseen "Gobblers," and Lyra herself is taken away from Oxford to live with the attractive but cunning Mrs. Coulter. When Lyra and her daemon, Pantalaimon, discover that their new caretaker is herself behind the abductions of the missing children, they escape to the safety of the water-faring folk, the gyptians. With them, Lyra and Pantalaimon will journey to the far North in an effort to rescue the stolen children and, if possible, exact vengeance. What they will find in the frozen North are some things horrifying, some achingly beautiful, and some truly awesome. Lyra's journey becomes a life and death struggle that will end in her deciding whether or not to take the role Destiny has decreed for her.

The language in The Golden Compass is toned down to a level of readability by a younger audience, but many of its themes and allusions are more than heavy enough for adults: the nature of the soul and where it resides, the corrupting nature of power, the suffocating sternness of a powerful Church. A quote from Paradise Lost precedes the book, and Milton is hardly childish reading. Another interesting aspect of the story is its resistance to categorization. There are corporeal souls, talking polar bears, and flying witches, but there are also scientists studying, classifying and quantifying their universe. It is the same edge-blurring blend of pure fantasy and very soft science fiction that makes a real separation of SF&F impossible.

Minha opinião
Gostei bastante do livro. Ele é bem envolvente, fazendo com que você queira saber mais sobre os mistérios nele apresentados. Como boa fã de RPGs e afins, gostei muito da aura de fantasia. Parece uma espécie de Senhor dos Anéis, só que mais fácil de se ler huahuahua. Dos personagens, meu favorito com certeza é Iorek, o urso gigante.

O Filme
Foi lançado em 2007. Eu não me lembro muito bem dele a ponto de poder fazer uma boa comparação, mas eu acredito que ele seja relativamente fiel ao livro, salvo algumas observações: o filme termina muito antes do final do livro, que é muito mais emocionante e faz com que você implore para ter o segundo livro em mãos. E outros detalhes que eu notei foram que a Lyra, personagem principal, é morena no filme e loira no livro, enquanto que a Ms. Coulter é loira no filme e morena no livro. Acabei prestando atenção nisso pois há uma parte no livro na qual Lyra está sendo procurada e a busca é justamente por uma garotinha de cabelos loiros, tanto que ela é obrigada a usar um capuz para se esconder. Bom, não faz muita diferença, mas é uma curiosidade. ^^

Livro 2: A Faca Sutil (The Subtle Knife)

Sinopse
At the end of The Northern Lights, Lyra Silvertongue watched in fear and fascination as her father, Lord Asriel, created a bridge between worlds. Lyra and her daemon Pantalaimon are now lost in an alternate universe where they meet Will Parry, a fugitive from a third universe. Will has found a small window between Cittagazze--where children roam unchecked, but invisible Specters suck the spirit out of adults--and his Oxford, which, with its Burger Kings and cars, is frighteningly different from the Oxford Lyra knows. Will's father, an explorer, disappeared years ago, but some odd characters have started asking questions about him. Will has managed to accidentally kill one of them and is wanted by the police. Armed with the Subtle Knife, a tool that cuts any material (including that which separates universes) and Lyra's alethiometer, the children set out to find John Parry, with adults of various stripes in desperate pursuit.

Lyra's finest qualities are her courage and her quick mind. She finds she must use them constantly--not to put too fine a point on it, she must lie and steal to keep herself and Will out of danger. However, she must also know when to tell the truth and when to trust. She does not yet know--though her friends the witches do, and so does the reader--what a huge part she will have in the upcoming battle between Good and Evil.

Minha opinião
Gostei mais desse livro do que do primeiro. O segundo é bem mais complexo, enquanto o primeiro é um pouco infantil. Confesso que achei a idéia central, o motivo pelo qual todas as coisas estão acontecendo (que eu não vou contar qual é, leiam o livro! XD) meio viajado, mas pelo menos não era nada que se espere de antemão (pelo menos eu nunca haveria pensado nisso). Nesse livro, surge outro personagem principal, Will, que passou a ser meu favorito. Conheço tantos "marmanjos" de vinte e poucos anos que não têm a metade da maturidade que esse garotinho de uns 12 anos (não me lembro agora a idade exata) tem...


Livro 3: A Luneta Âmbar (The Amber Spyglass)

Sinopse
